vAzhé and Shahrvand hosted Ebrahim Nabavi, the Iranian journalist
and satirist for a visit to Toronto. A short piece selected from Nabavi's
works was played out by Sasan Ghahraman and Saeed Armand, followed by
an introduction to Nabavi's satire by Hassan Zerehi, the editor in chief of
Shahrvand. Nabavi's views on 'Political satire in Iran today' amalgamated with
his usual wit and humour was well receieved by an audience that exeeded 550.
The second half of the evening, hosted by Nyaz Salimi, began with a short play
performed by Esmail Senejani and Levon Haftvani. The rest of the evening was
spent on questions and answers with Nabavi.
